- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Dr. Xuyu Liu is a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of Sydney within the School of Chemistry and has been appointed Drug Discovery Unit Leader for the Heart Research Institute since 2019. Xuyu received his PhD (2017) from the University of Syndey under the mentorship of Professor Richard Payne before pursuing postdoctoral studies with Professor Yimon Aye at Cornell University, and later, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. He was awarded a Sydney Cardiovascular Fellowship in 2019 to establish his independent research program focussing on developing innovative peptide ligation technologies and chemical proteomic platforms for cardiovascular research.
His research focuses on the chemical synthesis and biological evaluation of peptidic natural products and the development of new chemical proteomic platforms to characterise the biological activity of electrophilic natural products. His studies have afforded him multiple publications in high-ranking chemical biology journals, i.e., Nature Chemistry, JACS and ACS Central Science, and have secured multiple medical research funds from MRFF, Therapeutic Innovation Australia and the University of Sydney.
