- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Robert Vacha is a biophysicist interested in proteins, membranes, and their interactions. He received his Ph.D. in 2009 from the Charles University in Prague under the supervision of Prof. Pavel Jungwirth. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge and Lund University in the labs of Professors Daan Frenkel and Mikael Lund. Since 2017, he has been a group leader and professor at Masaryk University (MUNI), where he holds a joint appointment at CEITEC and the Faculty of Science. He is also Scientific Director of the National Institute of Virology and Bacteriology of the Czech Republic. His research group focuses on the molecular understanding of peptide targeting, permeation, and disruption of cell membranes, which they use to develop new therapeutic candidates. His work has been recognized with a Junior Research Fellowship at Churchill College at Cambridge, the MUNI Science Award, and grants from the Czech Science Foundation and the European Research Council.
