Dr. Laura Edgington-Mitchell is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Protease Pathophysiology Lab in the Department of Biochemistry & Pharmacology, located at the Bio21 Institute, University of Melbourne. Laura obtained her PhD in Cancer Biology from Stanford University followed by postdoctoral studies at La Trobe University and The Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Building on a foundation in chemical biology, she specialises in the development and application of chemical tools to study the activity and function of proteases in health and disease. The overarching aim of her research program is to validate proteases as biomarkers and therapeutic targets for cancer, inflammation, and pain.
